Well done to all of our wonderful students who attended the NSW Junior Chess Teams Tournament on Monday at the PCYC at Broadmeadow. Students played in teams of three and did a sensational job competing against schools from all over the Hunter. Congratulations to Connor, Akira and Jamie’s team who placed 2nd, earning themselves so lovely medals and a trophy for our cabinet. Well done, everyone!

Our Mini Olympics was a massive success today! Well done to all of our students who showed brilliant sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Students had a great day representing their adopted countries in a huge array of sports. Congratulations to all our athletes. You have made us so proud! Congratulations to gold medal winners Japan, silver medal winners USA and bronze medal winners, Brazil.

Unfortunately, due to the poor weather and conditions of the grounds, our Mini-Olympics event did not go ahead today. We have re-scheduled this event for this coming Monday 29th August.
This will mean that our K-2 and 3-6 assemblies will not be on. 2HE, who were scheduled to present next week will do this in Week 8.
Students are still encouraged to come dressed out of uniform in sporting attire of their country’s colours.
Some of our stage 3 boys competed in a Touch Football Gala Day today at the Newcastle Harness Club. The boys won 3 out of their 5 games and showed great sportsmanship and some serious skills. Well done boys, We are super proud of your efforts
Congratulations to our amazing Chess team – Noah, Oscar, Jamie, Akira and Connor – who are through to the Finals of the Interschool Chess Challenge in Sydney next month! The boys competed at Coal Point PS today in the Semi-Finals and they did a wonderful job representing our school and placing 3rd overall. This will be the first time a Tighes Hill team has made it to the Finals – Well done boys, we are so proud of you! Thanks to Ms Armstrong for chaperoning our amazing chess team!
In our afternoon session yesterday, students had to construct a cage that would keep an egg from cracking when dropped from different heights. Stage 3 had an eggcellent (haha) time using lots of different materials to construct these cages. Well done to those students who kept their eggy alive. Thanks to Mrs Bowman for such a fun and challenging activity.
Despite the horrible weather, our Education Week celebrations went off yesterday. Thank you to all the friends and families who came to watch the STEM activites in the classrooms and enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch with our students. A massive congratulations to our stage 3 students who did an amazing job demonstrating some very fun science experiments in the younger grades! We are very proud of your efforts!
